Privacy Policy

HomeJot · Effective October 17, 2026

HomeJot helps you keep your home's records: the equipment and finishes in it, their manuals, receipts and warranties, your notes, and maintenance tasks. It is built so that your records stay on your iPhone. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.

What stays on your iPhone

Everything you save in HomeJot (items, documents, notes, photos, scanned pages and tasks) is stored only in the app on your iPhone. We have no copy of it. The text in your photos and PDFs is read on the iPhone itself.

Like other app data, your records are included in your iPhone's iCloud or computer backups, which Apple's or your computer's own privacy terms cover.

What leaves your iPhone, and only when you use an AI feature

Three optional features use AI. Nothing is sent unless you use one of them:

These go to the HomeJot service, which picks the parts that matter for the request and passes them to our AI provider, OpenAI, to produce the answer. The answer comes back to your iPhone. The HomeJot service doesn't save the photo, question, records or answer.

We ask OpenAI not to store these requests. Under OpenAI's terms for its API, data sent to it is not used to train its models, and it may be kept for up to 30 days to detect abuse before being deleted. See OpenAI's privacy policy.

What the HomeJot service keeps

Sharing

We don't sell or rent data, and we don't share it with advertisers or data brokers. The only companies involved are the ones above that run the service for us: OpenAI (AI processing) and Fly.io (hosting).

Your choices

Children

HomeJot is meant for adults managing a home. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect anything from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top. If a change affects what leaves your iPhone, we'll also say so in the app.
